Slide-By Off Over/Underhook
November 17th, 2010 | Posted by in Wrestling For FightingThe cross bump is one way to create distance and use the overhand or elbows to land strikes. Another way to create a distance and land strikes is the slide-by. In this technique, your goal is to go past your opponent’s underhook and then gain access to his body to complete the takedown. If it fails, you can always pop up right back up into the clinch without risking to be chocked.
Start by pushing your opponent’s underhook arm down by digging your thumb into the crook of his elbow. From the other side, lift his arm up with your underhook. The instant your opponent applies downward pressure with his opposite arm to resist your upward pressure, you release the tension by dropping level and sliding your head down his ( underhook) side. Then grip the back of your opponent’s knees with both hands and drive forward with your right foot. Cut the corner and complete the take down.
