Cutting The Corner
August 26th, 2010 | Posted by in WrestlingInstead of continuing to drive into your opponent to complete the take down , you can use “cutting the corner” technique, forcing your opponent sideways instead of backwards. The technique works better when you attack your opponent’s legs with your hands to hinder his ability to regain his base and balance by stepping to the side. To defend the take down he has to change his angle, create a separation and sprawl. This technique limits your opponent’s defences and most importantly avoid your neck being exposed and getting your head trapped between your opponent’s legs and end up being chocked. Cutting the corner will land you in more dominant position, such as side-control.
