Scallops
June 6th, 2010 | Posted by in 5 Chicken, Fish & SeafoodScallops are an excellent source of vitamin B12, which is needed for the body to deactivate homocysteine, a chemical that can damage blood vessel walls . Hight homocysteine levels are linked with osteoporosis. A high intake of vitamin B12 has been, also, shown to be protective against colon cancer.
Scallops are very good source of magnesium. A regular intake helps build bones, release energy, regulate nerves and keep the heart healthy. Magnesium deficiency can cause abnormal heart rhythms.
Scallops are low in calories and ideal for dieters.
Fresh scallops should have white and firm flesh. Cooking them for longer than few minutes make them tough.
