Sunflower seeds  are one of  the world’s major sources of oil. They are rich in ploy unsaturated  fats. The seeds are very rich in vitamin E and can help protect from inflammatory conditions, such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. The antioxidant vitamin E neutralizes the free radicals that, in excess, can damage the body cells and speed up the ageing process. It is also linked with  lowering the  risk of cardiovascular disease and with the protection from colon cancer.

The seeds are rich in iron, magnesium,  selenium and plant sterols which helps lower ‘bad’ cholesterol,

Sunflower seeds  are rich in  the omega-6 linoleic acid – an essential fat.

If stored in  a warm place,  the  seeds can go rancid and spoils quickly
