The seeds are very rich in vitamin E and can help protect from inflammatory conditions, such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. The antioxidant vitamin E neutralizes the free radicals that, in excess, can damage the body cells and speed up the ageing process. It is also linked with lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease and with the protection from colon cancer.
