Cocoa Beans are not just an indulgent treat. They contains flavonoids, magnesium and iron for protection  from heart disease. The beans are  rich in antioxidant  fibre and minerals. The chocolate-making process  provides procyanidins, which has an anti-inflammatory action.

100 g of dark chocolate contains caffeine  as much as a cup of coffee.

Cocoa  powder is relatively low fat. It is  also a good source of  fibre. The antioxidant content has an anticoagulant action; it protects against the oxidation of cholesterol in our bodies.

Cocoa  beans  provide the stimulant and diuretic  theobromine.

The more cocoa solids the chocolate contains, the more antioxidants and minerals it has. The standard chocolate found in supermarkets contains less cocoa and more nutrients. Dark chocolate  contains more than 70 per cent cocoa solids  – that’s why it is considered the healthiest chocolate.
