Olive Oil

Olive oil  is well known for being high in heart protective mono unsaturated fat , which helps prevents cholesterol being deposited on artery walls and therefore helps protects us from cardiovascular  disease and stroke. Early pressings of olives, as in extra virgin oil, produce and oil that is rich in beneficial plant compounds. These can protect against cancer and high blood pressure, lower  cholesterol.

The beneficial health effects of olive oil are the result of its high levels of monounsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants. Studies have shown that olive oil offer protection against heart disease by helping to reduce your levels of bad (LDL) cholesterol while raising level of the good (HDL) cholesterol.

The particular compound oleocanthal, an anti-inflammatory with similar action to ibuprofen.

Olive is a good source of vitamin E

Olive oil should be stored in  a dark place and used within one or two months.
