Coriander has the reputation of  being high on the list of the healing herbs. The leaves contain the compounds dodecenal which is  as twice as effective in killing salmonella bacteria as some antibiotics. Coriander is also known for lowering ‘bad’ cholesterol and increasing  ‘good’ cholesterol.

Coriander is a good  source  of several nutrients, including potassium and  calcium, and contains high level of lutein and zeaxanthin, which help protect out eyes and eyesight.

Coriander  regulates blood sugars and therefore  may help diabetics and people who are insulin resistant.

Use fresh coriander as it loses most of its aroma and flavour when dried.
