Blackberries
May 4th, 2010 | Posted by in 3 FruitsBlackberries are small powerhouses of health that are rich in antioxidants. The fruits rate very high on the ORAC ( Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity ) as blueberries. Their deep purple color denotes that they are rich in several compounds which can help beat heart disease, cancers and the signs of ageing. These compounds include anthocyanins and ellagic acid, a chemical known to block cancer cells . Blackberries are also rich in fibre and minerals, including magnesium, zinc, iron and calcium. Their high vitamin E content helps protect the heart and keep the skin healthy.
The darker blackberries , the more ellagic acid it is likely to contain.

Here in the UK blackberries and all kind of berries are bloody too expensive: a small pack costs more than £3. What I do – I go to Aldi and buy frozen box of berries and mix of fruit for a cheaper price
