They help boost the immune system and help wound healing, prevent arterial damage, promote iron absorption and strengthen blood vessels walls. They also contain other antioxidant phenolic plant chemicals such as anthocyanins and allergic acid, which can help block cancer cells and help prevent some cancers.
Strawberries contain good amounts of fibre, folate and potassium.
Choose strawberries that look plump and glossy; dull one are usually past their best.
They should be stored in a container with air holes in a refrigerator for up to three days, but bring them to room temperature before eating them.
