Fresh cranberries are too sour and acidic , but they are widely found sweetened and dried , as a juice drink or as baked in desserts and preserves. They help alleviate or prevent urinary tract infections as they contain quinic acid, which increases the acidity of the urine, and partly because the tannis they contain, which is antibacterial. The same compounds may also help protect against heart disease.
