Pears fruit is high in fibre and contains antioxidants to help prevent cancer  and gastroentertitis. They are less likely to  produce  an adverse or allergic response from eating them. They contain a range of useful nutrients and a good amount of fibre, which helps maintain a healthy colon.

Store unripe pears in a cool to moderately warm room.

Most of  pear’s fibre is in the skin, so it’s best to wash the fruit and not peel it.

One average-sized pear contains:

  • 60 kcalories
  • 0.5 g protein
  • 15 g carbohydrate
  • 3.3 g fibre
  • 9 mg vitamin C
  • 225 mg potassium
